The Journey of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion - Ella F. Washington
The Future Forum hosted the Academic Summit on Diversity, Equity, and Belonging in the Workplace on October 27, 2020 to share the academic perspective on two key themes: how to build an anti-racist organization and the future of how teams should operate. In this video, Ella F. Washington, Professor of the Practice at Georgetown University and Founder of Ellavate Solutions, shares insight and observations from her experience leading corporate diversity, equity and inclusion trainings. According to Washington, “until we start applying best practices, we’ll continue to see organizations struggle with creating trainings that actually lead to behavioral changes.” To learn more from the Academic Summit on Diversity, Equity, and Belonging in the Workplace, read our recap here: https://futureforum.com/2020/11/12/academic-summit-diversity-equity-and-belonging-in-the-workplace/

Antiracism, Allyship, and Authenticity: Building Internal Capacity for Institutional Change
What will it take to build an antiracist organization? In this follow-up virtual event to “Race, Equity, and Justice: A Call to Action,” we will address what skills and actions are necessary for workplaces to advance beyond statements to being antiracist organizations that dismantle systemic racism and rebuild equitable structures in their place. Join us for a hard, powerful, and action-oriented conversation that connects our individual behaviors to organizational practices that build internal capacity for change. We’ll engage with experts to learn how organizations normalize whiteness through constraining the authenticity of non-White employees and how to develop skills as allies to build effective alliances that oppose racism and sustain change. Leave with actionable strategies for working across differences to build antiracist structures that allow all members to thrive.
